What is FAQPage Schema?

FAQPage schema is a schema.org structured data type that marks up question-and-answer content in machine-readable JSON-LD, using a mainEntity array of Question objects, each containing one accepted Answer.

It only works correctly when the JSON-LD text matches the visible on-page text exactly and the content is genuinely a set of standalone questions and answers — not marketing copy dressed up as an FAQ. Google narrowed, then in May 2026 fully removed, the visible FAQ rich result it once displayed in Search results, but FAQPage remains a valid, current schema.org type that structures content for any system parsing it, independent of that one display feature.

For AEO purposes, the value of FAQPage schema isn't the (now retired) Google rich result — it's handing any AI system a pre-packaged, unambiguous question/answer pair instead of asking it to extract one from prose.
